青森県内最大級 Ranked among the largest in Aomori Prefecture
古木でこれだけ太いものは青森県内で記録がありません。サルナシはマタタビ科マタタビ属のつる性植物で別名シラクチカズラ、シラクチヅル。果実はコクワと呼ばれています。
地元ではコガの木と呼ばれ、実の味はキウイフルーツに似ており、果実酒などに利用されています。
The trunk of this ancient tree is the thickest on record for its species in Aomori Prefecture. A member of the genus Actinidia in the family Actinidiaceae, the Hardy Kiwi is a woody vine related to the species which produces the kiwifruit popular in supermarkets the world over.
Locally referred to as a "koga tree", the Hardy Kiwi's fruit is similar in flavor to kiwifruit, and is used in the production of fruit liqueur and other products.
