Ginko Biloba is a deciduous tree originaing in China, with a height of 20 to 30 meters. The fan-shaped leaves split slightly in the middle, and have veins that spread from the stem to the leaf's outer edge.

Ginko biloba are dioecious, meaning that there are male and female trees. Only female trees produce seeds. It is rumored that a ginko's sex can be determined by its leaf shape, but there is no scientific basis for this claim. The Ichokikubo Giant Ginko is female.

Aomori Prefecture is a "Ginko Wonderland", with 30 examples of trees that have a trunk circumference greater than 7 meters.
